Senior Finance & Accounting Manager (m/f/d)

Your responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with German GAAP. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close procedures. Review entries prepared by team members.
  • Supervise the processing of invoices, payments, and receipts. Review and approve vendor payments and customer invoices. Provide guidance on resolving complex issues and discrepancies.
  • Together with external tax advisors manage the preparation and filing of VAT returns, tax filings, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate internal control system to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Recommend improvements where necessary to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process and ad hoc project audits.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency and implement bets practices.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and training as needed. Review their work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Act as primary contact with external tax advisors and accountants.
Your skills & knowledge
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance Management, or related field. CPA or similar certification preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles including supervisory capacity. Experience with German accounting principles and tax regulations is a must.
  • Experience in Big Four audit and/or assurance department is considered a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g. DATEV, NETSUITE, similar ERPsystems). In-depth knowledge of German GAAP and familiarity with tax regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret large and complex financial dataset.
  • Native German speaker (or full professional capacity) with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, management, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated team leadership abilities, with experience in supervising and developing accounting team members.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High integrity in handling confidential financial information and adhering to company policiesand regulations.
