About the Position


We seek to create within the Accelerator cross-functional team dedicated to managing the deal flow of start-ups for all EIT Health activities designed for start-ups. EIT Health is seeking to appoint a Head of Deal flow Management and Operations who will be reporting to the Director of the Accelerator. 
The Head of Deal Flow Management will lead our efforts to ensure robust processes and infrastructure for capturing start-up deal flow and act as a gatekeeper in preparing investment cases, contributing to our overarching goal of financial sustainability and healthcare innovation excellence. Furthermore, the Head of Deal Flow Management will be responsible for supervising the operations of the Accelerator, which includes coordinating the reporting process (impact), ensuring compliance with e.V processes for finance and procurement, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).


Your responsibilities 

 Leadership
  • Lead a team of 4 to 5 people, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure they excel in their roles.
  • Establish and maintain clear standards and expectations for the unit aligned with the Accelerator mission and objectives.
  • Ensure the team is well-equipped to perform their responsibilities effectively.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure the unit's work aligns with EIT Health's mission, and in particular with the other Heads of the EIT Health Accelerator itself as well as with the Asset Management team. 
  • Be part of the management team of the Accelerator to support the development and execution of a financial sustainability strategy within the Accelerator, aligned with EIT Health's mission of building continuous revenue streams to ensure long-term vision and impact. The Head of Deal Flow Management will actively participate in shaping the sustainability strategy, infusing it with a commercial mindset, and identifying innovative approaches to secure funding for the organization's growth and success.
 Management and support
  • Develop and execute comprehensive deal-sourcing strategies with the other Accelerator units to identify high-potential start-ups and innovations in the healthcare sector.
  • Establish and enforce a system to consistently and accurately capture start-up data, maintaining high data quality standards.
  • Implement processes and tools to monitor data capture across the organization.
  • Develop and share efficient ways for deal sourcing, tracking, and assessment. Act as the primary bridge between the Deal flow Unit and the Asset Management to Investment Committee. 
  • Ensure the Asset Management team has access to all necessary data and insights that enables the Investment Committee to make informed decisions.
  • Encourage a culture of innovation and creativity in deal sourcing among colleagues.
  • Strengthen collaborative efforts between the Deal flow Unit, Start-up Success Unit, and the Asset Management team to facilitate transparent and effective communication.
  • Work closely with other units to align processes, share insights, and streamline the flow of information. 
  • Collaborate with the Start-up Programmes unit to prioritize external opportunities that feed the deal flow.
  • Coordinate the organization of Accelerator event in collaboration with the communication team and the event manager in charge of acceleration events.
  • Coordinate with other business units to meet communication, KPI reporting obligations, procurement needs, and financial requirements.
Your skills & knowledge
Education:
  • Relevant academic degrees at Master level or higher in a relevant health or science discipline and/or equivalent professional experience/qualifications,
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in operations or programme management or related fields as an incubator/accelerator of start-ups.
  • In-depth understanding of healthcare, health technology, and data analytics: A solid understanding of the healthcare industry, health technology, and digital health trends, including regulatory requirements and market dynamics.
  • Proven track record in managing a multidisciplinary international team. 
Leadership Skills:
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a team of 3 to 5 people to achieve outstanding results.
  • Capable of developing a clear strategic vision for the Unit, aligning it with the organisation's mission and goals.
  • Strong communication skills to convey the unit's vision, priorities, and expectations to team members, start-ups, and stakeholders.
  • Skill in addressing complex challenges, making tough decisions, and finding innovative solutions.
  • Ability to adapt to changing market conditions, technologies, and trends to ensure start-ups' success.
Management and Support Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of the start-up ecosystem, including an understanding of the challenges and opportunities they face.
  • Experience in defining and maintaining high standards for start-up support, monitoring performance, and continuous improvement.
Personal Attributes:
  • Creative mindset to co-design new support services and offerings that meet the Accelerator mission and objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities with negotiation and conflict-resolution skills
  • Pragmatic, proactive, and agile with a hands-on business approach.
  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken)
  • Located in Germany, Spain or France
